Financial Counselling QLD has been hosting annual conferences across Queensland for several years, fostering a vibrant network of financial counsellors, financial capability workers and sector stakeholders. These events have significantly contributed to the professional development of financial counsellors and capability workers while strengthening connections within our sector.
The primary objective of our annual conferences is to address the current financial challenges faced by consumers, develop effective strategies to support them, and promote the continuous training and professional growth of financial counsellors and financial capability workers in QLD.
Additionally, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of financial resilience and wellbeing within the community of QLD.
The 2025 Conference Announcement
FCQ are excited to be returning to The Langham Gold Coast for our annual state conference. After an overwhelmingly positive response in our 2024 post-conference survey, we have decided that returning to the same location in 2025 will enhance familiarity, streamline logistics and continue to foster strong relationships amongst attendees, presenters and partners. But that’s not to say we are looking to do a carbon copy of the 2024 ‘Making Waves’ conference. FCQ have listened to the constructive feedback provided and are looking to ‘New Horizons’ in our conference landscape. Building on last years’ successes, FCQ will provide more opportunities for members to delve deeper into professional development and industry networking opportunities.

Conference Theme – New Horizons
As the challenges of Queensland’s financial landscape continues to evolve, the role of financial counselling and capability is becoming increasingly vital to people, communities and government departments. This conference aims to explore innovative approaches, best practices, and emerging trends in our profession, with a renewed focus on upskilling our membership base to feel confident and effective in taking on the breadth of financial issues they may encounter supporting vulnerable clients. Attendees will have the chance to connect with our valued industry partners and professional peers, share stories and insights, and foster collaborations that extend beyond the conference. A new name, a new website and a new conference format all leads to “New Horizons” in financial counselling in Queensland to support and empower our talented and devoted members to better serve their clients and communities.

Partnership
The generous contributions of our partners allows FCQ to continue to provide relevant and timely training and professional development opportunities to our members throughout the year. This is vital for our sector with many workers isolated from their peers due to geographical spread.
Historically the support of our partners helped to rebuild the membership base following the devastating loss of state government funding in 2014. The ongoing support of our partners allows us to continue to strengthen our membership base, improve our communication channels and ensure peer support networks are built and maintained.
